According to the expert, this is due to lactic acid and fiber ruptures.

Many people know from their own experience the phenomenon when muscle pain appears after strength training. The reasons for this pain explained in an interview NEWS.ru osteopath Sergey Evdokimov.

The expert said that pain is caused by a high concentration of lactic acid in the tissues. Also, during training, mechanical fiber ruptures occur,

“When muscles work, the body needs a large amount of energy, it receives it from the breakdown of glucose. Depending on the intensity of the work of muscle tissue, there is an aerobic and anaerobic type of glucose breakdown. If a lot of intensive work is required, an anaerobic type of glucose breakdown occurs when the process takes place with little or no oxygen. In this process, just lactic acid accumulates. The longer the muscles work in this mode, the more lactic acid accumulates in the muscles, ”the specialist said.

Evdokimov added that lactic acid disrupts the ability of nerves to transmit impulses, and it takes time to remove it from the body. Its concentration decreases when a person is at rest.

Also, during strength training, mechanical damage to the fibers occurs. The number of such gaps depends on the intensity of the loads. These processes in the body also cause pain and swelling.
