The general director of the club, Andrei Nikitin, informed Igor Babushkin that Yuri Yukhnevich will now act as head coach in Volgar’s upcoming matches. This was reported by the press service of the administration of the governor of the Astrakhan region.
According to Nikitin, former coach Sergei Pavlov took over the team at a difficult time for the team – in August 2023 after five defeats at the start of the tournament. Under Pavlov’s leadership there were both victories and defeats during the fight for the Russian Cup.
As the general director of the club notes, the team is grateful to Sergei Alexandrovich and wishes him success in his coaching activities. “Volgar has enough matches ahead to complete certain tasks. The team will do everything possible,” said Andrey Nikitin.
Previously, Sergei Pavlov was the coach of the Moscow club “Torpedo”, the Yaroslavl team “Shinnik”, the Tula “Arsenal”, the Krasnodar “Kuban”, the Moscow “Saturn”, the Ivanovo “Textilshchik”, and also worked as an assistant head coach at Spartak and Russian national team.
