The Russian Chess Championship recently took place in Yekaterinburg, where young talents from all over the country competed for the title of the best. Among them was Ruslan Gadzhiev from Dagestan, who attracted attention by winning a silver medal.

Gadzhiev, a student at the Karpov A.E. Chess School in Makhachkala, managed to score 7 points out of 9 possible, taking second place among boys under 13 years old. His preparation took place under the strict guidance of coaches Alexander Tryapishko and Artur Velikhanov.

After this success, Gadzhiev will represent Russia at the Asian Championships, which will be held in June in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This became known from a message from the school’s chess press service.

President of the Dagestan Chess Federation and director of the Makhachkala Chess School Karpova A.E., international grandmaster Dzhakai Dzhakaev, expressed his congratulations to the young winner and his coaches. He noted that Gadzhiev deserved the highest marks for his impressive performance in the Russian arena.

“I want to note that Gadzhiev’s latest results in adult tournaments, his undoubted talent and efficiency gave us reason to expect the highest result in Yekaterinburg. However, for final success, our athlete had to literally survive several of the most difficult games of the tournament. Ruslan showed unbending character, high skill and exceptional tenacity in defense,” Dzhakai Dzhakaev summed up the results of the championship.
