Nutritionist, gastroenterologist Nuria Dianova in an interview with the Public News Service statedthat, despite a lot of useful properties, blue cheese can cause serious complications.

The fact is that noble varieties of cheese emit toxic substances. Therefore, it is worth eating only the most harmless types of cheeses. Especially useful, as Dianova said, Adyghe and mozzarella. They are easier to digest than other cheeses in the body due to the low percentage of fat content.

“Pregnant women should not eat moldy cheeses,” the nutritionist warned. She listed such cheeses as Gorgonzola, Roquefort, Dor Blue, Brie, Camembert, and explained: “Noble cheese can contain bacteria called Listeria.”

When using these cheeses, according to her, “there is a risk of falling ill with listeriosis, which is dangerous for infection of the fetus, developmental anomalies may form.”

Blue cheeses should be avoided by people with cancer: the intestines of those undergoing radiation or chemotherapy are “susceptible to various kinds of bacteria,” the doctor explained.

And besides, due to cross allergies, such cheeses cannot be eaten by allergy sufferers and people with bronchial asthma.
