Zoologists: the rate of extinction of species may be 354 times higher than natural

Over half a millennium, 73 genera of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians have disappeared, a group of zoologists from Stanford University reported. The rate of extinction was 35 times higher than natural, and could become 354 times higher if rare species of tetrapods from monotypic genera become extinct before the end of the century.
It is also reported that many animal species have become rare.
Zoologists who published a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences believe that extinction has accelerated due to human activity.
