Medical cannabis (marijuana) is now legalized in Ukraine – such amendments to the legislation were signed by the head of state Vladimir Zelensky. This was reported on Thursday, February 15, on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The report states that marijuana is allowed to be used “for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific-technical activities to create conditions for expanding patient access to the necessary treatment for cancer and post-traumatic stress disorders resulting from war.”
Not all Ukrainian politicians approve of this decision. Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, who heads the Batkivshchyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada, promised to appeal this law in the Constitutional Court, as it threatens to appear in the country large-scale drug trafficking.
Chairman of the Council of the “Other Ukraine” movement, ex-leader of the party “Opposition Platform – For Life” banned in Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk, said that the United States in Ukraine is “pushing through a new gray zone for the cultivation of narcotic cannabis,” and Vladimir Zelensky immediately “joined this scheme”.
