Yandex launches robot taxi with AI in Moscow – Kommersant

The Yandex company has launched in test mode a service for ordering cars controlled by artificial intelligence, the so-called robot taxis, in Moscow. So far, they only work in the Yasenevo area. You can order a trip daily from 7:00 to 1:00 through the Yandex Go application. Its cost will be 100 rubles.
Users who applied in advance will take part in the first stage of testing. Subsequently, other residents of Yasenevo will also have access. To order a robot taxi, users must press a special button in the Yandex Go application. After that, they will be asked to choose a place of embarkation and disembarkation. In total, there are about 40 such points in Yasenevo.
Now the robotaxi takes only one passenger. Users from 18 years old can order a car. Yandex notes that, in accordance with the current Russian legislation, there will always be a test driver in the car, who must monitor the safety of the trip.
The first robotic taxi tests took place in 2018 in Innopolis, whose residents made over 60,000 trips, and then in Moscow. In total, unmanned vehicles have traveled more than 24 million km.
