“Yandex» launched testing of robotaxis in one of the districts of Moscow, a service for ordering cars that are controlled by artificial intelligence. This was announced by the company.
In test mode, the service will work for residents of Yasenevo. Those who have previously applied on the project website will be the first to use an unmanned taxi. They will have a special button for ordering in the Yandex Go application. For residents of the district, trips will be possible to forty points.
The cost of any trip will be 100 rubles, but only one passenger can be in the car. The company notes that in order to ensure safety and comply with the law, there will be a test driver in the car.
For the first time, Yandex tested a robotic taxi in 2018 in Innopolis in Tatarstan, where residents made more than 60,000 trips. According to the company, unmanned vehicles have already traveled more than 24 million km.
In 2018 Yandex signed an agreement with the Moscow government on cooperation in the development of unmanned vehicles. Joint work with the authorities will help prepare the legislative framework for the introduction of unmanned technologies on the streets of the capital, the company expected then. Yandex has been working on the technology of unmanned vehicle control since 2016.
