Readers of the German edition of Welt are outraged by the words of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who said that Germany was going to stop buying oil from Russia from January 2023, writes RIA Novosti.
The agency provides several comments on this matter. One user noted that “The oil embargo will not harm Russia, but Germany.” And he asked the question: “Will our people withstand another price hike?”
“Scholz has become well accustomed to the role of an American puppet,” says another commentator, and advises the chancellor to “stop.”
“I was sick and tired,” one reader wrote, horrified at how he would pay the bills.
“Russia will simply find other buyers, while the German people will have to suffer again,” said another commentator.
There are those who believe that the decision of the German Chancellor “can be compared with high treason.”
The gradual introduction of an embargo on oil imports from Russia provides for the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions by the West. The ban applies only to oil supplies by sea, but not to oil supplied through the Druzhba pipeline. The pact also includes a ban on insurance for ships carrying oil from the Russian Federation. The embargo will come into full effect on December 5th.
