The mayor of Warsaw Trzaskowski said that the city authorities will allocate $27 million for the construction of bomb shelters

Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski said city authorities intend to allocate 117 million zlotys, or $27 million, for the construction of bomb shelters and other security measures. It is expected that the corresponding amount will be allocated for the next three years. This was reported by Politico.

Trzaskowski argues that the strategy for the coming years involves significant investments to prepare for any “contingency.” As noted in the publication, with the allocated funds it is planned to provide shelters with electricity and water supply, as well as prepare medical institutions for work in emergency situations.

In addition, it is noted that, as part of the program announced by the Warsaw mayor, underground parking lots and metro stations will be equipped with shelters. The mayor indicated that about 7 million square meters of territory in Warsaw will be repurposed for bomb shelters.
