“Walk at home like this”: how does a Russian tourist annoy local residents

From the influx of Russians, poor highlanders and rich Arabs alike cry. And this happens in places that are generally friendly to us only because we are there “with our charter”.

We found out why a Russian tourist during a trip annoys the hosts who are ready to welcome him.

Abkhazian “teapots” – owners of private housing for rent to holidaymakers – held back for a long time out of respect for the guests. But they got tired during the season and, as soon as it came to an end, there was an “explosion of public opinion”. One of the local housewives unwittingly provoked him with her confession:

– In May, the first guests, they were from Samara, I left all the dishes in the apartment, terry bathrobes and towels, a complete set of hangers, good shampoos and detergents. But soon she took away some of the dishes, then perfumes, and by the end of the summer she didn’t leave anything of her own to the guests. Guess why? I’m ashamed to say, but the tenants endure everything – forks, knives, bathrobes, colognes. At the same time, people are clearly not poor and seemingly decent …

The stories of other homeowners immediately followed: the owner of the guesthouse admitted that in his establishment, the guests even unscrewed the door handles and dismantled the chairs.

– Pens, maybe gold were? Did the guests drown the potbelly stove with chairs to escape the cold?

– I think they just tried to open the door by force, as happens if someone locked up from the inside or lost the key, and the handle was simply broken. And the chairs were also not broken on purpose, just not their own – no pity. It is unlikely that a tourist from Russia needs to steal something in Abkhazia. It’s more of a carefree attitude. Many are accustomed, for example, to raking out all the small things “as a keepsake” from large expensive hotels, but the prices there are such that guests, consider, have already bought all this, and even at exorbitant prices. But when you take it out not from a five-star network in Dubai, but from a house whose owners take you in, feed, wash you, you need to think about people.

But in the former Soviet, and now departmental sanatorium in Pitsunda, petty theft of holidaymakers is condescending, calling it natural “shrinkage and utruska”.

“They even took my shower head out of my office,” the institution’s physiotherapist shrugs his shoulders. – But I’m not offended, I laugh that some admirer whistled in memory of me. But, of course, if I had to pay for the “outrage” from my own pocket, it would not be funny. But, fortunately, we belong to a rich organization, and only respected people rest with us. But the nozzle was still stolen.

The inhabitants of another part of the Caucasus – Dagestan – were brought by guests from Russia to the point that their fighter without rules Vagab Vagabov spoke on behalf of the Dagestan people, promising to personally “put a headscarf on women and a kamis (Muslim long shirt – author) on men.” The athlete was brief, but convincing: “In swimsuits to the shops – how is it? We are not in Bali, we are. This is Makhachkala, guys! It was hard here at one time, and such tourists would not have survived here. Moreover, a man is striking, who is in shorts, swimming trunks – this is generally … At home, walk like this. And here dress, walk, as befits.

The rich from the guests from Russia also cry, and sometimes even more bitterly than the poor. A Russian permanently residing in Dubai spoke about an unexpected “ambush” for wealthy Emirates on his blog, having previously explained that their residents never park in their yards, only in underground parking lots. But entry there is available not only to those who have bought a “parking space”, as in Russia, but to all residents of the house: “You need to pay for parking, but the parking space is not assigned to you, it turns out like in Russian shopping centers: where it is free, leave the car there “. And since our long-term tourists, who have been pouring into Dubai since the end of February, tend to settle in residential complexes for the rich and buy several cars at once – for themselves, for a wife, for adult children – native Dubaiis suddenly faced with a shortage of parking spaces under their home. At the same time, the Russians, who are not at home at the moment, will “post” a public parking space in the domestic manner with anything – from a children’s horse to a chain. And the blogger who told this even somehow saw there … a camping tent.
