According to the survey, 15% of Russians believe that orientation can change throughout life.
According to VTsIOM, sexual orientation is considered biologically determined, mainly by women, citizens with secondary specialized education and above, as well as active consumers of media on TV or via the Internet.
Only 15% of respondents believe that orientation can be formed under the influence of biological and external factors. It follows from the VTsIOM survey that among Russians with this point of view, people who are surrounded by representatives of the LGBT community prevail (41%).
On July 18, they submitted to the State Duma bill, suggesting a complete ban on the “popularization of non-traditional sexual relations.” The current legislation provides for administrative liability for promoting “non-traditional relationships” among minors.
Since July 2020, amendments to the Russian Constitution have come into force, according to which only “the union of a man and a woman” is recognized as marriage.
