On March 7, the second match of the quarter finals of the Russian Bandy Championship took place at the Trud stadium in Arkhangelsk: Vodnik hosted Krasnoyarsk Yenisei. This was reported by the press service of the Arkhangelsk hockey team.

In the first match, which took place in the Krasnoyarsk indoor ice arena, the northerners prevailed with a minimal score of 4:3. Already in the capital of Pomerania, weather conditions were far from ideal. Throughout the day, the snowfall in Arkhangelsk either stopped or started again. Only a few minutes before the starting whistle did the heavenly office take pity on the athletes.

The main difference in the actions of the Vodnik hockey players compared to the previous game was that they again began to play active pressing. This bore fruit almost immediately. First, Mikhail Sergeev took advantage of the slowness of the guests and opened the scoring in this match. Then Evgeniy Dergaev and Ilya Nasekin played an excellent combination between themselves, and the latter of them doubled his team’s advantage – 2:0. At the next moment, Ilya Nasekin already acted as an assistant. From his own half of the field, he made a well-timed pass to the opening Pavel Pozhilov, who went one-on-one with Yenisei goalkeeper Artem Prokhorov, leaving him out of action – 3:0. At that moment, the yellow-greens, driven by the wind and their home stands, were simply unstoppable. Until the half-time whistle, they forced the opponent to start the game from the center of the field three more times – 6:0.

In the second half of the match, the Krasnoyarsk team already played into the wind, and the weather conditions could contribute to their quick counterattacks. However, thanks to the coordinated actions of the hosts in defense, the Siberians practically did not succeed. The only time they were able to score was after a corner kick. Ivan Maksimov’s team were able to respond to this with two accurate shots – 8:1. For Vodnik, Evgeniy Dergaev scored a hat-trick, Ilya Nasekin and Pavel Pozhilov scored doubles, and Mikhail Sergeev also scored once.

– We entered this match with a very good attitude. The guys managed to create pressure on the opponent’s goal and translate it into scored goals. This allowed us to achieve a comfortable score in the first half. After the break, we played competently in defense and were successful on counterattacks,” noted Vodnik head coach Ivan Maksimov.

Vodnik reached the semi-finals of the Russian Championship for the fifth time in a row, in which it will meet Dynamo Moscow. The first game will take place in Moscow on March 11. Starts at 19:45. The return meeting will take place in Arkhangelsk on March 14. Starts at 19:00.
