Ex-Krasnodar football player diagnosed with rare brain disease

Former Krasnodar footballer Kristoffer Olsson was found to have several blood clots in the veins of his brain. According to the press service, Olsson is in intensive care, he is connected to a ventilator.
The club’s press service clarified that the blood clots formed as a result of an “extremely rare” inflammatory process in the vessels of the football player’s brain. The 28-year-old athlete is currently undergoing treatment at Aarhus University Hospital (Denmark).
“Christoffers Olsson’s condition is now assessed as stable, doctors still do not see much progress,” Midtjylland said in a statement. It also notes that doctors detect an “increased degree of consciousness” in the football player.
Kristoffer Ollson moved to Midtjylland in July 2023 from the Belgian club Anderlecht. From 2019 to 2021, Ollson played for Krasnodar. As part of the Krasnodar club, the footballer played 80 matches, scored four goals, and made seven assists. During his career, the football player also played for the Swedish AIK and the English Arsenal.
