An all-Kuban festival-marathon in combat sambo, a traditional Cossack type of competition, took place on the territory of the Kurganinsky municipality. The competition in Kurganinsk was held for the prizes of the “Accessible Sports” charitable foundation of State Duma deputy Dmitry Pirog. The tournament was organized at the Champion sports complex.
More than 210 pupils of sports schools and representatives of Cossack clubs from 8 to 15 years old competed for awards in the competition. The tournament was attended by the chairman of the Union of Cossack Youth of Kuban, holder of the Order of Courage Daniil Dyachenko, world champion in combat sambo, adviser to the ataman of the KKV Fedor Durymanov, head of the Kurganinsky municipality Andrei Vorushilin, chairman of the district council of deputies Sergei Makhanev, ataman of the district society Sergei Krokushkin.
Vice-Governor of Kuban, Ataman of the KKV Alexander Vlasov noted that in total there are 4 sports schools in the municipality, where 4,000 children train on an ongoing basis. According to him, the Kurganin sambo school is one of the strongest in the region and Russia. Over the past 3 years, 2 international-class masters of sports, 9 masters of sports, 23 candidates for master of sports, and almost 700 mass athletes have been trained here. The Russian sambo national teams include 7 students from the sports school. Every year more than 40 children become winners and prize-winners of all-Russian competitions.
