Ex-general director of Spartak Melezhikov does not believe that Promes is involved in drug trafficking

Former general director of the Moscow football club “Spartak” Evgeny Melezhikov in a conversation with “Sport-Express” stated that he does not believe that Dutch football player Quincy Promes is involved in the drug smuggling case.

Melezhikov admits that he does not believe in the athlete’s direct participation in drug trafficking. As the ex-general director of Spartak noted, Promes has either a cousin or a second cousin, to whom the footballer lent money, without delving into what he does and what the money will be used for. After that, according to Melezhikov, they called each other a couple of times, and the uncle asked the athlete to bring paraphernalia, for example, T-shirts or scarves.

The former general director of the club indicated that Promes himself told him that he was clean, and besides, the athlete expressed his readiness to go to the Netherlands and prove his innocence, but he was afraid that he would either be immediately “closed” or left under recognizance not to leave, and this would put an end to his career, and at his age he needs to train every day to keep himself in good shape.

Melezhikov added that he understands Promes. According to the ex-general director of Spartak, when they refuse interrogation via videoconference, demand personal presence and do not give guarantees that there will be no arrest, there is a desire to lure the person to the territory of the Netherlands and arrange a “show flogging.”
