Vilfand: New Year’s frosts will hit Moscow this weekend

Thermometers in the capital on Saturday night will drop to minus eight, and on Sunday the temperature will drop to minus eleven. This weather is within the climatic norm for January 1. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
At the same time, the meteorologist noted that the probability of precipitation in the capital region will tend to zero, the weather will be mostly sunny.
Earlier, the leading specialist of the Phobos center, Evgeny Tishkovets, spoke about the beginning of meteorological winter in Moscow and warned about December frosts over the weekend.
He also noted that then nature compensates for the lack of snow. Starting from Tuesday, snowfalls will hit the capital and by the end of next week, snow cover up to 6 centimeters high may form on the streets of Moscow.
At the same time, the chief weather forecaster of St. Petersburg, Alexander Kolesov, noted that frosts in the Leningrad region on the weekend could increase to -10…-15.
