Varshaver spoke about the scandal at the Satire Theater after Shirvindt’s death

Director of the Moscow Lenkom Theater Mark Varshaver commented to the publication Teleprogramma.pro the conflict that broke out between the troupe and the management of the Moscow Academic Satire Theater after the cancellation of the performance, where the recently deceased Alexander Shirvindt played.

According to Varshaver, Lenkom has three casts of actors, so the artist can always be replaced rather than canceling the production or giving another performance. He noted that some theater managers do not see replacements for the roles of deceased legendary artists. However, you always need to have a second cast in reserve, since the theater works for the audience.

Varshaver noted that the theater deceives the viewer when it invites him to watch another performance or cancels it altogether. He believes that this is the wrong attitude towards his audience. “Yes, there will be another actor to play this role. If we don’t give other actors, young or middle-aged, these roles, then they will never be Bronevs. Leonid Bronevoy also did not immediately become Bronev. They trusted him and gave him the opportunity,” Mark Warshawer.
