US investors invest $40 billion in Chinese artificial intelligence

US investors have poured $40.2 billion into Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) technology companies in recent years, Reuters reported, citing Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technologies (CSET). According to him, from 2015 to 2021 (and at the height of the trade war launched by President Donald Trump in 2018), US investment accounted for 37% of total investment in the Chinese AI technology sector.
In total, we are talking about 167 American investors who took part in 401 transactions during the mentioned period of time. In terms of the number of transactions, the leader among American investors was the venture capital fund GGV Capital, which secured 43 contracts. Divisions of Intel and Qualcomm entered into 11 and 13 deals, respectively.
