Scientists come up with a new device to extinguish fires

Know-how in it – a device for spraying water
The option of quickly extinguishing open fire was proposed by Russian scientists. The unusual device has passed the first test at the EMERCOM test site in the Orenburg region.
As it became known to MK, the installation was developed at the Department of Theory of Air-Jet Propulsion Engines of the Moscow Aviation Institute under the guidance of Professor Igor Lepeshinsky.
The tested installation, in addition to the water tank, includes a gas turbine engine, a special pump, and a water spray device. This is know-how – it is in it that an air jet is formed, saturated with the smallest drops of water. Extinguishing a fire with it is much more effective than using ordinary water. And in terms of water consumption, the installation differs from those used today for the better: if conventional fire extinguishing systems consume 350-630 liters of water per second, then the development is only 60 liters. The length of the jet in this case reaches 140-150 meters. While the installation exists in a single copy, a powerful truck was made specifically for its installation.
