Scientists from the University of Texas in the USA found that people who have ever adhered to the principles of intermittent fasting are more at risk of starting to overeat. About it writes a scientific journal Appetite.

The study involved 300 people: 70 of them adhered to intermittent fasting at the time of the experiment, 48 tried this method in the past, another 182 people never tried intermittent fasting.

Next, the observation participants filled out a questionnaire where they answered questions about their tendency to impulsivity and eating habits – these are the factors that can assess a person’s propensity for eating disorders.

The results of the survey showed that people who have anything to do with intermittent fasting are much more likely to experience symptoms of eating disorders.

According to psychologists, intermittent fasting, which is positioned as an offshoot of “intuitive eating”, actually does not correspond to the canons of this mode of eating. The fact is that intermittent fasting is built on restrictions, that is, it does not allow you to listen to your body, which is why people often tend to overeat, which provokes even more eating behavior problems.
