UEFA and FIFA agreed on a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Belarus

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the International Football Federation (FIFA) do not object to holding a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Belarus. For this purpose, a meeting was held with representatives of UEFA, said the first deputy chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation Andrei Vasilevich.

“International friendly matches are agreed upon only according to the FIFA form, FIFA has no complaints against us, and accordingly, UEFA does not either. They don’t mind,” he said (quoted by TASS).

Mr. Vasilevich added that in the event of any complaints, UEFA would send a corresponding note to Moscow and Minsk about this.

He announced the holding of a friendly match on March 11 “RIA Novosti Sport” President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov. According to him, the meeting should take place in Minsk in June.

In December 2023, Mr. Dyukov reportedthat the RFU managed to agree on holding a friendly match with the Serbian national team.

FIFA and UEFA suspended Russian national teams and football clubs from participating in international competitions indefinitely in February 2022 after the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
