Portuguese scientists have shared an unusual discovery about mushrooms. Researchers studied their cells using anion exchange chromatography and found that noble porcini mushrooms and ordinary champignons have anti-cancer properties, writes Gazeta.Ru.
The publication notes that the analysis revealed the content of specific cellular fractions in mushrooms that can reduce the viability of cancer cells.
Scientists have also found that the antitumor activity of fungi can be increased under certain conditions, but then they will become cytotoxic to normal cells.
