Train traffic on the Semlevo-Vyazma section, along which trains travel between Moscow and Minsk, has been restored, Moscow Railways reported. Traffic was suspended due to the collapse of the Paninsky overpass in Vyazma, Smolensk region.

“At 00:32, traffic was opened on the second main route on the Semlevo-Vyazma section in the Smolensk region, which was previously disrupted as a result of the collapse of a road bridge,”— reported at the Moscow Railways.

Four recovery trains, 20 pieces of heavy equipment and more than 300 railway workers were involved in eliminating the consequences of the bridge collapse. 450 tons of reinforced concrete fragments of the overpass were removed from the tracks. The construction of the roadbed, communication systems and contact network was carried out anew, and new tracks were also laid, the Ministry of Railways clarified.

Collapse of the Paninsky overpass in Vyazma happened April 8 around 16:30 Moscow time. The bridge’s supports failed, and debris from the structure fell onto the railway track, blocking train traffic.
