On Wednesday, Muslims celebrate one of the two main holidays in Islam – Eid al-Adha, which traditionally lasts three days. On April 10, early in the morning, festive collective prayers will be held in Russian mosques.
The “Feast of Breaking the Fast” is celebrated to mark the end of the holy month of fasting, Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr, also known as Eid al-Fitr in Arabic, has its roots dating back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad in the 7th century.
On the occasion of the end of Ramadan, the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, addressed believers with a message, noting the serious trials facing Muslims this month. He emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity of society in the face of tragic events.
In his address, Gainutdin also called for prayers for resolving conflicts, establishing peace and security. The head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, Mufti Albir Krganov, emphasized that Eid al-Adha symbolizes spiritual renewal, teaching mercy and mutual assistance.
In Moscow, holiday prayers will begin at 7:00 am in several mosques and will also be broadcast online. In the Pechatniki area, a temporary prayer site will be organized for 5 thousand people. Representatives of the Russian Muslim Spiritual Board called on believers to be vigilant and follow safety rules.
The celebration of Eid al-Adha also includes holding a festive prayer in Sokolniki Park in Moscow according to tradition. Mufti Albir Krganov will address the believers before the start of the prayer. All events will be carried out taking into account recommendations and safety measures.
