Foreign companies are increasingly interested in Russian software for the oil and gas industry. In particular, demand for it is growing in the CIS countries, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, noted participants of the industrial and energy forum TNF.
“Our companies have many advantages: many provide full access to their software and after the sale, for example, they will not be able to simply turn it off, which is extremely important for sensitive industries,” said the CEO of the Digital Industrial Platform (a joint ventureGazprom oil” and GC “Tsifra”) Alexander Smolensky.
Smolensky noted that Russian developers do not copy Western technologies “with outdated architecture and technology stack.”
President of the InfoWatch group of companies Natalya Kasperskaya explained that cooperation attracts foreign countries with its “relative independence.” According to her, the Western model involves delivering technology “in the form of black boxes” and teaching how to use it, but does not give permission to study “how it works.” “Our model should be open. This is a good opportunity for third world countries to build some elements of their digital sovereignty,” Kasperskaya noted.
In September 2022, during the TNF forum in Tyumen, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov statedthat by 2025 Russia plans to use 80% of Russian equipment in the oil and gas industry. According to him, back in 2014, the technological independence of the Russian Federation in oil and gas engineering was just over 40%, in 2022 – already 60%.
