The Cup of Siberia and the Far East has started, and the Amur Tigresses, a professional women’s volleyball team that recently appeared in Khabarovsk, won their first victory. The rivals of the Khabarovsk “tigresses” were Barnaul athletes from the Altai-AGAU VC – the flagship of women’s volleyball in Altai.
The Barnaul athletes looked very promising in the opening of the game, but the Khabarovsk athletes were a little constrained. At first, the rivals managed to break away from the “tigresses” by four points, but then the Far Eastern team pulled themselves together, equalized and themselves led by six points. And again the swing – Barnaul catches up – 22:22, Khabarovsk breaks away again and still wins – 25:22.
The second game was also very difficult. The “Tigresses” tried to develop the psychological advantage they had gained, but their opponents were not going to give up. Barnaul came back from 7:1 and again went head to head with the Khabarovsk team. Nevertheless, in the final the Far Eastern team again managed to snatch victory – 25:21.
Well, in the third game the Khabarovsk team’s advantage was overwhelming. The team played out and simply crushed the volleyball players from Barnaul. The score 25:11 speaks for itself.
“I would like to congratulate all the fans on their first official victory. As for the game, there was initial excitement, everyone understood the responsibility. The first two games struggled with themselves, with nerves, and made mistakes. At the beginning of the third, we calmed down, exhaled and showed quality volleyball. We have four more important games ahead, each of which we need to win,” noted after the match Alexander Shchurin, head coach of the Amur Tigers VC.
Next rivals The “Amur Tigresses” will be VC “Esnia-2” from Krasnoyarsk, which yesterday suffered a disappointing defeat from the Primorye “Dynamo-Vladivostok” 3:0 (25:23, 25:15, 25:12). The match will take place at 13:00 Irkutsk time (15:00 Khabarovsk time). The organizers promise to broadcast the game.
On the same day, together with the “Amur Tigresses” and “Yenisei-2” the pairs will perform: “Dynamo-Vladivostok” – “Altai-AGAU” from group “B” and “Tyumen-Priboy” – “Zabaikalka”, “Olympus” – “Lokomotiv-Angara” from group “A”. According to the rules of the competition, the two best teams from each group will advance to the final four, where the winner of the Cup will be determined.
