In Moscow, the results of the Moscow Classical Chess Championship among boys, girls, boys and girls were summed up. In the group of young men not older than 17 years old, 14-year-old Demid Akhmetzyanov, a student of the M. M. Botvinnik Children’s and Youth Sports School of the Moscow Palace of Pioneers, won an early victory.
According to the results of eight rounds out of nine scheduled, Demid scored 7.5 points, he has 7 wins and one draw. By the last round of the competition, the student of the Moscow Palace of Pioneers broke away from the nearest pursuer by one and a half points. The victory in the Moscow championship allowed Akhmetzyanov to get a ticket to the Russian championship, which should be held in May 2023 in Sochi.
Demid began to master chess science with the head of the Children’s and Youth Sports School named after M. M. Botvinnik, Stanislav Sergeevich Fokin. Today, the senior coach of the school, grandmaster Alexei Kim, is working with the young chess player.
