On November 23, a bill was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to ban the Russian Orthodox Church. The draft law was prepared by MP Nikolai Kniazhitsky, who is a member of the party of the former President of the country Petro Poroshenko “European Solidarity”.

According to the co-chairman of this party, Irina Gerashchenko, the ban on the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church will strengthen national security in the country.

“The liberation of Ukraine from the ROC is another step towards a free and independent Ukraine,” Gerashchenko stresses. She added that in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, which belongs to the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which has not yet canonically separated from the Russian Orthodox Church, they created “an anti-Ukrainian Kremlin nest that has nothing to do with religion and the church.”
