The Trans-Caucasus Highway was blocked in both directions

The Trans-Caucasus Highway was blocked in both directions, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the South Ossetian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Reportedly, the reason was deteriorating weather conditions, as well as the inability to ensure safe passage. The message says that the ban applies to all types of vehicles.
It is noted that the highway will be closed until further notice.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations appealed to drivers to switch to winter tires due to snowfall on the Trans-Caucasus Highway. Truck drivers are not recommended to drive onto the highway without appropriate technical training.
The Trans-Caucasus Highway is the only road connecting South Ossetia to the outside world. In winter and early spring, traffic on this mountain route is periodically blocked due to snow drifts and avalanche danger.
