On Wednesday, March 1, the press service of the government of the Murmansk region announced the imminent start of the region’s traditional 88th Holiday of the North, or the Polar Olympics.
Thus, the solemn opening ceremony will begin on Saturday, March 4, at 19:00 at the Central Stadium of Trade Unions. About 250 professional athletes and actors will take part in it.
The event starts with a colorful parade of athletes – participants in the competition, decorated with light and sound effects, and a fiery and multimedia show awaits guests. The culmination of the program will be the relay race with the torch of the Holiday of the North.
It will be possible to get to the stadium from the side of the monument to Anatoly Bredov on Lenin Avenue. The gathering of spectators starts at 18:30, the organizers have prepared warm fruit drinks and pastries for the guests.
This year, the competitive program of the Polar Olympics includes 17 sports, both polar athletes and representatives of other regions will compete for medals. The competitions will run from March 3 to April 16 throughout the Arctic.
