State Duma deputies proposed creating an analogue of the life simulation video game The Sims, which would correspond to traditional values. The deputies approached Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko with such an initiative.
“[В The Sims] LGBT and other forms of behavior that contradict traditional Russian spiritual and moral values are actively promoted. Despite the formal assignment of the “18+” rating, the game is popular among Russian teenagers,” the message says (quote according to TASS).
The deputies see the “best solution” to create a domestic video game in this genre, “corresponding to Russian traditional spiritual and moral values and including an educational component that will help Russian teenagers gain the knowledge they need in real life.”
The authors of the initiative were the first deputy chairman of the State Duma committee on education Yana Lantratova (“A Just Russia – For Truth”), the chairman of the committee on family, women and children Nina Ostanina (CPRF), the chairman of the committee on labor, social policy and veterans’ affairs Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR ), as well as committee member Ekaterina Stenyakina (United Russia).
The appeal provides data that confirms that video games have become an integral part of the cultural and leisure activities of a significant number of Russians. In particular, Kaspersky Lab estimates that about 90% of children today play games.
Now in Russia they are developing a game in the RPG genre “Troubles”, dedicated to the events of the same time in the Russian Federation. For its development, the Novosibirsk studio Cyberia Nova received grants from the Internet Development Institute (IRI). In June, Iranian General Director Alexey Goreslavsky announced that the organization had allocated a total of about 490 million rubles for the development of Troubles.
In February, Vedomosti wrote that Iran could invest additional funds in the development of RPGs. According to a source in the video game market, the total investment in Troubles could be approximately 1 billion rubles.
The head of Cyberia Nova, Alexey Koptsev, stated that by the end of 2023 the company plans to finalize “Smuta” to the final version. According to the latest data, the game is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2024.
