VTsIOM: short-term outbreak of anti-migration sentiment is over
“The short-term outbreak of anti-migration sentiment in Russia has come to an end,” said the head of VTsIOM Valery Fedorov in an interview with Izvestia.
“Just a couple of months ago, fresh data was presented on the opinions of Russians regarding immigration. This report caused a great resonance, mostly negative… Because these data showed: over the past 13-15 years, the attitude of the Russian population towards migrants has improved significantly,” noted Fedorov.
In addition, the head of VTsIOM highlighted the factors that led to changes in attitudes towards foreign workers in Russia, including getting used to them and demographic problems.
“The question arises: where to look for labor? Today in Russia, according to the International Labor Organization, the unemployment rate is 2.9%. This is a very low figure, which is not entirely profitable for business,” the sociologist emphasized.
