Media: a group of Chinese tourists were locked in a store because they did not buy anything

A curious incident occurred in one of the stores selling bed linen – a group of Chinese tourists were refused to be allowed out of the store after they did not buy anything.

How reports Asia One, a video was posted on social media showing a group of tourists from China’s Liaoning province allegedly being held captive in a bed linen store in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province. According to tourists, a group of 37 people were locked in the store for several hours.

The footage shows tourists sitting and lying on beds in the store, while store employees stand guard near the door. According to Chinese news platform NetEase, the guide left while store employees continued to ask tourists to buy goods.

The video received about 100 thousand views, attracted the attention of local authorities and led to an official investigation. According to the Xishuangbanna Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, the store in question is owned by a company called Taisi Dika Sleep Technology. Local travel agency Faxian Zhilv operated the group tour on behalf of Youde Travel Service.

Taisi Dika Sleep Technology was ordered to temporarily cease operations, and the unlicensed guide from Faxian Zhilv was fined 10,000 yuan (about $1,400).
