Telegram’s share in total mobile traffic in Russia has more than tripled since the beginning of 2022, from 2.5% to 8.5%. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadayev during the CNews Forum “Cases and Experience of IT Leaders”

At the end of January, Vedomosti, citing the calculations of the Big Four operators (“Beeline“,”Megaphone”, Tele2, MTS) wrote, that at the end of 2022, Telegram for the first time overtook WhatsApp (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) in terms of user traffic. By the beginning of 2023, its share exceeded 60–80% of the total volume.
According to the results of 2022, the average price of an advertising post in Telegram news channels increased by 341% and reached 55,940 rubles. About this Vedomosti wrote at the end of May, citing research data from the native advertising platform BeSeed. In 2021, it amounted to 12,680 rubles. For all thematic categories in the aggregate, the cost of advertising on Telegram, according to the platform, in 2022 increased by an average of 76.5% to 29,050 rubles.
