As shown study holding Romir, the share of Russians planning to cut their spending on food and essential goods in order to save money increased by 3 percentage points – from 16% in June to 19% in July. Retrenchment has become one of two strategies to overcome economic difficulties, which Russians have begun to resort to significantly more often. The second is the sale of real estate and property that is not being used (+2 percentage points month on month).

The most popular ways to save on food and necessities are switching to promotional and discounted products, choosing cheaper or completely eliminating certain categories of goods, visiting stores with low prices. Each of these methods was used by more than half of the respondents trying to save money. Every third visits stores less often and buys only according to the list, every tenth more often orders home delivery.

Only 8% of respondents did not touch upon economic problems in the country. The most popular way to save money for everyone else in the first place is the rejection of expensive goods and services in favor of the necessary.
