The restored Motherland monument is covered in stains

The Battle of Stalingrad Museum commented on messages from Volgograd residents on social networks that the Motherland sculpture on Mamayev Kurgan was covered in spots, although it had recently undergone restoration.

In messages, people compared the monument to a “zebra” and demanded that the perpetrators be punished.

The museum, as reported by the Telegram channel “Podyom”, recalled that the restoration of the monument was carried out in 2020 and the guarantee of the contractor, Glavzarubezhstroy JSC, is still in effect. However, the decision to carry out warranty work must be made jointly by the customer – the “Directorate for Construction, Reconstruction and Restoration” and the contractor. The museum cannot make such a decision and for now is only conducting “field observations” of the spots appearing on the monument.

According to the preliminary version, the stains appeared due to the different composition of the concrete from which the monument was poured and which was used to seal the joints during restoration.

Let us recall that in 2020, 668 million rubles were allocated from the budget for restoration work of the Motherland.
