The Khankh-Mondy border checkpoint on the Russian-Mongolian border is scheduled to be closed from February 21 to 26, report “Vesti Buryatia” with reference to the press service of the FSB border control in the region. The report says that the decision was made by the authorities of Mongolia and the reason was the celebration of the New Year according to the lunar calendar.
The FSB report also states that during this period it will be possible to cross the state border through the Kyakhta automobile checkpoint, the Naushki railway checkpoint and air checkpoints in Ulan-Ude (Mukhino) and Irkutsk.
On the eve of the Ministry of Emergency Situations announced the closure of the road until checkpoint “Verkhniy Lars” on the border with Georgia due to bad weather. On the afternoon of February 3, the agency announced the resumption of traffic for cars and buses.
