About 4 million Russians suffer from cancer

Now in Russia about 4 million people suffer from various oncological diseases. About 600 thousand new cases are detected per year. This was announced by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health of Russia Yevgeny Kamkin.
“Today, in the Russian Federation, about 4 million citizens suffer from oncological diseases, while annually new cases that we detect due to the strengthening of the material and technical base and the creation of conditions for the timely diagnosis of diseases are about 600 thousand,” said Mr. Kamkin (quote from RIA Novosti).
Earlier, Kommersant wrote that in 2022, Russians began to turn online to oncologists more often. The number of such requests has tripled in a year. According to analysts, this happened due to the penetration of telemedicine into regions where the availability of doctors of narrow specialties is lower than in Moscow.
