Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni became a victim of deepfake porn several years ago. According to information Leggothe politician decided to take the matter seriously: on July 2, she will have a trial with two residents of the city of Sassari (Sardinia), a 73-year-old man and his 40-year-old son, who are accused of publishing a fake video on an American Internet portal for adults.

According to the prosecutor, the 40-year-old man modified porn films and, using special software for graphic video processing, created a deepfake – he combined Meloni’s face with the bodies of adult film actresses.

The Prime Minister of Italy is going to sue the authors of the video for 100 thousand euros (almost 10 million rubles), the authors of the publication shared the details.

“This is a message to all women who are victims of this type of harassment – not to be afraid to report it,” said lawyer Maria Julia Marongiu, who represents Meloni.

The prime minister promised to direct the compensation to a fund of the Italian Ministry of Internal Affairs intended for women who are victims of violence.

The investigation into the publication of a pornographic deepfake of Meloni began in 2020; investigators were able to find out the phone numbers of the alleged authors. The video circulated on the Internet for several months. It was viewed by millions of Internet users around the world.
