The head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (OVSC), Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, said that its details, where and when, have not yet been discussed.
“There is a possibility of a meeting between the pope and the patriarch, but this meeting must be carefully prepared. The most important thing is the result, we need a message, a document, as it was in Havana after the first meeting,” Vladyka said.
The meeting of the two religious leaders should contribute to the strengthening of interreligious dialogue and relationships between Christians. Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk stressed that in this sense, the Russian Orthodox Church focuses on the meeting of leaders in 2016. Then a very substantive conversation took place, as a result of which a wonderful, profound document was adopted.
“Of course, we believe that if such a meeting took place in the future, it should have the same significant, weighty result,” the DECR head added.
