Wildberries CEO Bakalchuk may go to jail due to a burnt warehouse

The owner of one of the country’s largest marketplaces, Wildberries, Tatyana Bakalchuk may go to prison because of a huge warehouse that burned down in St. Petersburg. According to the latest information from Gosstroynadzor, the premises were operating without permission from the authorities. At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that fire safety inspections had never been carried out at the warehouse.

It is noted that the total damage from the fire will be about 13-15 billion rubles.

In connection with the incident, Bakalchuk may face criminal liability for lack of permission to commission the building and failure to carry out certification, as well as for violation of building and fire regulations.

In addition, the CEO of the marketplace may be held administratively liable for using the facility without the necessary permits and documentation. This may result in the payment of a large fine.
