The opening of the Russian fencing championship took place in Orel today. It will last until February 11. More than 700 young fencers from 33 regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus will compete in the arena. This was reported by the official information portal of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Oryol Region “ProSport57”.
The strongest representatives of this sporting discipline will be determined in three types of weapons: foil, saber and epee. Athletes will compete in individual and team competitions.
The opening of the championship was a success and aroused great interest among city residents. The first ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners was attended by high-ranking guests – the Governor of the region Andrey Klychkov and the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Alexey Berestov.
The start of these competitions is not only an important sporting event, but also an excellent opportunity for young fencers to demonstrate their talent and skills.
