Kuban judoka became the winner of a major tournament in Paris

An athlete from the Krasnodar region, Timur Arbuzov, won a bronze medal at the representative Grand Slam judo tournament in Paris. For 19-year-old Arbuzov, competing in the weight category up to 81 kilograms, this is the first major success at these competitions.

According to the press service of the Russian Judo Federation, Arbuzov previously competed in Grand Slam tournaments 4 times, but was never among the winners.

In Paris, the Russian, representing Tuapse and Kropotkin, suffered his only defeat in the quarterfinals. In the fight for the bronze medal in extra time, Arbuzov defeated Somon Makhmadbekov from Tajikistan.

The tournament in Paris is a qualifying tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games.

On the international stage, Arbuzov has a silver medal at the 2023 World Junior Championships.
