Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that the number of the most in-demand employees (from 30 to 39 years old) in the Russian economy could be reduced by 30%. She told reporters about this before a meeting of the State Council on the labor market in Veliky Novgorod.

“We (the government – Kommersant) are frightened by the imbalance that, due to demographics, will develop in the near future in the age group of 30-39 years. This is the most sought-after personnel, the most ready for change. Their number is reduced by 30%. But the number of young and older people is growing,” said Ms. Golikova (quoted from “Interfax”).

The number of citizens from 15 to 19 years old and the older age group, on the contrary, is growing. This forces the government to reconsider “approaches not only to forecasting, but also to training” at the level of secondary and higher education, as well as school career guidance.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that there are not enough workers in certain professions: for every registered unemployed person with relevant experience, there are 13 open vacancies for qualified workers in transport, construction and industry. “Finance and insurance are too much. A sufficient number of them have been prepared,” added Tatyana Golikova.

In the future, another 750 thousand people will be needed in the manufacturing industry. The industry has become the “absolute leader” in attracting additional labor resources.

In the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, as Mrs. Golikova said, “all specialists are in demand.” First of all, there are not enough economists, teachers and doctors.

Recently, the shortage of public transport drivers has been growing in the regions of Siberia – the understaffing rate in general has reached 30%. The authorities of the Altai Republic canceled a number of city bus routes because of this. Industry representatives cite mobilization for military service, lack of training and low transportation tariffs as the reasons for the shortage of personnel.
