SmartDev 2023: Chinese IT specialists expressed a desire to work with domestic programmers

During the SmartDev 2023 conference for IT professionals, Gitee CEO Yong Xu said that he invites Russian and Chinese developers to share their experience and ready-made solutions. Note that Gitee was selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Chinese government to create “an independent open source hosting platform for China.”

According to Xu, open source has been used in China for more than 20 years; initially, companies simply wanted to save money on their own developments. To this day, companies use open architectures rather than building their own.

“At the same time, the government encourages companies that use open source, because if we do not use Chinese developments, but take them from the Internet, then we will become dependent on other countries,” Xu emphasized, adding that he supports Russian open source initiatives and invites you to share experiences in community development.

“Our task is collaboration, justifying trust. Our Chinese colleagues and I think alike, and the products that we present today are very consistent with what our colleagues in China are doing,” said Andrey Belevtsev, senior vice president, CTO, head of the Technology block of Sberbank.

He added that the vast majority of Sber’s systems are of its own design. By the end of 2023, it is planned to increase the share of proprietary IT services to 90%. Having its own technological competencies and independent development of all key banking systems gives the company the opportunity to offer clients unique services, ensure the reliability and security of services under enormous transaction load. Today the company is carrying out large-scale work to replace vendor products with domestic analogues and platform components of its own production. For example, the Platform V technology platform, which contains vendor-substituted products registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software of the Ministry of Digital Development, the products of which are used not only to solve their own technological problems, but are also offered to all interested companies.
