The name of the sacred victim has been named: how the cat Twix and the conductor surpassed the “naked” party

And cats can become sacred victims. It all depends on the time and circumstances.

Here is the cat Twix, whom the conductor threw out of a train car in Kirov, and became just such a sacred victim. 300 volunteers searched for him, his death is mourned by tens of thousands of Russians on social networks, a petition demanding the dismissal of the conductor was signed by more than 370 thousand people in three days, and this number is increasing every minute. Every second person reposted the photo of the carriage conductor who killed the animal with words of curses addressed to her on the Internet. The guilty party has already become more recognizable than the stars who appeared at the “naked party.” And Russian Railways, having very quickly realized the size of the disaster, immediately apologized to the owners of the dead cat and – what’s important! — promptly made changes to internal documents, prohibiting the disembarkation of animals from trains at any time. The head of the “Safe Internet League” Ekaterina Mizulina proposed erecting a monument to the cat Twix…

What caused the birth of the sacred sacrifice? A pity? Anger? Compassion for our smaller brothers? Was it just the frosty winter outside the window?

No. The reason was renunciation. The desire to disown: “What inhuman cruelty! What callousness! But we’re not like that!”

Aren’t they like that?

Let’s be honest: which of us is not the conductor who threw the animal out of the train? Of course, to one degree or another, but still? Only those whom people call with a degree of contempt are “cat people”, or even “zooshiza”.

In the nine-story building where I live, cats live in the basement. Every evening their number changes – five, six, sometimes three. But I can say for sure: only one was born and raised in this basement. The rest are former households. “This one,” one of the local breadwinners, an ancient old woman who goes to feed the poor with her penny pension every single day, showed me a beautiful, still clean and well-groomed, timid, gentle cat, “my neighbor threw it away. How I argued with her! As requested! Well, what’s the point?..” And this same neighbor – she’s also a conductor. To the next world. She may have a different profession, but that doesn’t change the essence.

What about the other residents of the entrance? No, they didn’t throw away the cats. But for some reason they are terribly annoyed by a small piece of paper on which the same grandmother writes with a pencil in senile scribbles: “Stray cats live in our basement! Feed them! The leaf hangs for no more than two days, after which it is torn off the wall and carried away, apparently by the wind. Such a special wind of human cruelty. And the one who breaks this announcement in 30-degree frost is also the same conductor.

And who passes by a basement window with heavy bags full of groceries without looking back at the pleading cat eyes.

And who throws a cat out of the front door into the cold with the words “nothing to spoil here!”, which is 99 percent! — she slipped away from some neighbor’s apartment, otherwise how could she have gotten there in the entrance closed to the intercom. In an hour, its owners, smearing tears on their cheeks, will rush around the neighborhood, posting advertisements and asking everyone they can: “Have you seen it?..” No, no one has seen it. Only the one who threw it away. But he doesn’t admit it. Who wants to be known as a conductor of death?

And this is not to mention those who leave their pets at their dachas in the fall, moving to the well-fed warmth of the city. “Do you know how many of these cats and dogs are left? After you, urbanites! – workers of small village shops say angrily. “We feed them as best we can!”

And if those more than three hundred thousand people who signed a petition demanding “punishment!”, in memory of the deceased Twix, who so struck them in the heart, would take a stray cat into their house… Or the same Mizulina with the money for which it is offered erect a monument, bought food for some new shelter…

Cats are like children. “…Where is the child’s father? Oh, he didn’t strangle the baby in the forest!”

Do not expect to be better than the guide if you do not participate in the fate of homeless animals. And it doesn’t matter that you didn’t throw them away. It’s important that you didn’t pick them up. Or at least they didn’t feed me.

And in memory of Twix, let everyone who can take a cat from the street. And he will call her Twix. Or at least start feeding some stray cat. She, I’m sure, will also agree to respond to this name. A bag of food, by the way, costs from 20 rubles – this is cheaper than a candle in church.

And the authorities should consider a bill that would allow them not to create shelters for homeless animals, where there are always no places, but to send money directly to their curators. Create a common database of stray animals and invite people to take them under their care for a small additional payment.

These and some other good deeds would become a worthy memory of the sacred victim named Twix. And not that the conductor will be fired from Russian Railways (and hired elsewhere). It won’t make her or us any better. And most importantly, nothing will change the often very bitter fate of domestic and homeless animals that are in no way protected from people.
