The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR), Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the Central Interregional Investigation Department for Transport to organize an investigation after the death of the cat Twix, who was thrown out of the carriage by a train conductor. On January 11, the cat Twix got out of his carrier on a train on the Yekaterinburg-St. Petersburg route. He was traveling with a relative of his owner after undergoing surgery. On January 20, he was found dead in the snow, not far from the railway.

As noted in the Investigative Committee, a baggage receipt was issued for the cat, and he was traveling in a carriage in which the carriage of animals is allowed.
