And Vladimir Putin awarded the newspaper’s editor-in-chief the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree

Today is an important and special day at the MK editorial office. Today, April 4, is our editor-in-chief Pavel Gusev’s birthday. And not just another one, but an anniversary one. However, a major date does not affect him in any way. Pavel Gusev, as long as we have known him, has not changed in his basic characteristics.

What is he like, the man who has been leading MK for more than forty years? – we are often asked. We answer: on the one hand, an unconditional leader who knows how and where to run a newspaper, how to make it the most popular, and is able to take full responsibility for others. It does not tolerate stopping in business – only development. It is no coincidence that “MK” occupied and still occupies the highest positions under him, and for many “MK” and Gusev have long become synonymous. On the other hand, there is a human volcano, whose eruption can sometimes be dangerous if you happen to be nearby at an inopportune hour. But he is easy-going, unforgiving, and anger, which turns into mercy, has very vague boundaries. But it’s still better not to fall under the hot hand.

But in fact, behind his apparent severity hides a very kind person, a joker, who likes to ask questions with a straight face, such as: “Well, when will you start working?” It is received by a person who is burning out on the information conveyor belt. And for all his status, he is modest and will never emphasize his superiority. He is artistic, but over many years of professional association with the theater (he is the author of several plays and dramatizations), he has never learned to bow on stage. Performances based on his works were wildly successful, and their author always tried to stand on the edge, as if he had nothing to do with it.

A famous hunter, golfer, cook, hospitable person – this is how his friends and colleagues know him. Only he really doesn’t like people writing or talking about him, especially on his birthday, especially on his anniversary. Therefore, as always, Pavel Nikolaevich disappeared from Moscow in the hope of sitting out the anniversary hype away from the capital. But he is unlikely to succeed: as a master of unexpected moves and turns in journalism, he has trained a similar team.

Happy birthday, dear boss! Strength, health, energy to the business to which you devote years. Congratulations on your well-deserved high award – the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree.
