Chechen Human Rights Commissioner Mansur Soltaev commented on the information about the death of a native of the republic, Askhab Uspanov, at the Moscow police department. He indicated that, according to the official version of law enforcement officers, the man committed suicide. Mansur Soltaev called the information that Mr. Uspanov was detained after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall false speculation.

According to the Commissioner for Human Rights of Chechnya, the uncle of the deceased approached him and asked for assistance in verifying the death of his nephew. Mansur Soltaev noted that the case is under his personal control. “All attempts to link the detention and death of Uspanov to the terrorist attack in Crocus City are provocative in nature. We will use all legal mechanisms to reveal the truth, and we will seek a thorough procedural review of this fact,” he concluded.
The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall occurred on March 22. According to the latest data, 144 people were killed and another 551 people were injured. A total of 10 people were arrested in connection with the terrorist attack.
